Aether Learning RPG

An early prototype for a high-fidelity 3D Windows learning RPG with an original fantasy world and an original fantasy presentation target. The current evidence is deliberately smaller: a verified engine-independent permissions simulator and an Unreal Engine 5.8 Blueprint movement baseline.

EARLY PROTOTYPEOFFLINE-FIRSTUNREAL ENGINE 5.8NODE.JS CORE

AI-assisted prototype in development. World building, lesson integration, and Windows packaging are ongoing.

What exists today

Verified artifacts are separated from design targets and unfinished work.

VERIFIED

Offline permissions simulation core

A dependency-free Node.js module models two bounded Linux-permission exercises entirely in memory. The automated suite currently passes 10 of 10 tests.

  • Archive and greenhouse fixtures loaded from mission data.
  • Strict parsing for documented pwd, ls, whoami, ls -l, and chmod forms.
  • Owner, group, and other access precedence modeled explicitly.
  • Malformed and shell-like input rejected without mutation.
BASELINE

Unreal third-person project

A Blueprint-only Unreal Engine 5.8 project was created from Epic's installed Third Person template and its local shared content packs. The movement baseline has passed, and an early courtyard map is saved as prototype geometry; its current visual render remains under review.

  • No paid or downloaded asset pack was added.
  • No native-code module is present.
  • A successful packaged build and complete playable-learning loop remain pending.

Linux Permission Simulator

A safe learning component, with its boundary stated plainly.

What the tests prove

10/10automated tests passing
2modeled mission fixtures
0learner commands executed on the host

Tests cover documented inspection commands, alternative symbolic and octal solutions, overbroad permissions, execute-access rejection by policy, sequential symbolic clauses, greenhouse visitor access, owner-versus-group precedence, malformed input non-mutation, metadata inspection, reset, and instance isolation.

This is a simulation. It is not Linux, a shell, a virtual machine, or evidence that a learner performed the task on a real system. The core records modeled choices and outcomes; it does not infer understanding or mastery.

Design direction

The destination is ambitious; the published status remains concrete.

Original fantasy world

A rich 3D realm, guild-like learning roles, readable quests, and clear progression built from original names, art, audio, and systems.

Offline and transferable

Windows-first play without mandatory accounts or DRM, with a future packaging path that can move to another compatible machine.

Accessible instruction

Short objectives, explicit evidence, readable feedback, optional narration, and a clear distinction between practice simulations and real environments.

Next proof gates

  1. Open and visually review the saved courtyard prototype geometry.
  2. Connect one simulator lesson to a minimal in-engine interaction.
  3. Test the loop for keyboard navigation, readable status, recovery, and reset.
  4. Build and inspect a local Windows package before calling it a playable demo.
