Make the desktop easier to read.
Focused tools for visible text, spoken output and everyday desktop workflows. Built by Casey Shingledecker with AI-assisted development, testing and independent code review.
OCR Boxes
Place up to four adjustable boxes over visible text in ordinary windows or across displays, then read it aloud with your chosen voice player.
- Built-in Windows OCR and optional CPU RapidOCR.
- A dark interface coordinated with Kokoro Player.
- A separate voice per box with Kokoro or supported SAPI voices. Future readings use the new choice; the current sentence keeps its voice.
- Kokoro playback opens the current Windows default output for each utterance.
Verified locally: 16 silent voice/queue/layout checks and 105 existing self-tests. Layout checked at 100% and 125%. Actual headset sound and native Edge spoken output remain unverified. Native Edge and ElevenLabs manage one shared voice.
Desktop Pixel Companions
A Windows WPF companion and accessibility project. The newest OCR Boxes is installed inside the personal desktop app; the public source edition includes launchers for OCR Boxes and Avatar Toolbox.
The .NET 10 source build passed. This is an asset-free source distribution, not a finished companion-art installer: personal artwork, catalog data, voice models and settings are excluded. Visual companion features require your own compatible assets.
Avatar Toolbox
A small dashboard for launching tools, checking their status and opening optional repair helpers. OCR Boxes appears first in the updated tool list.
- Manual startup and portable per-user paths.
- Refined charcoal panels and warm text.
- An original neutral vector mascot in the public edition.
PowerShell parsing and the neutral-mascot render passed. The local tool list passed six file checks, plus five informational status results. Repair actions were not run during verification.
